Aloha beautiful beings of light. I am sitting poolside in a beautiful mountain home overlooking the Pacific Ocean on the big island of Hawaii. Rain patters on the pool. A warm breeze blows gently through my hair. A multitude of birds are singing their unique songs and enjoying a morning bird bath. (I wonder if birds call what I did earlier this morning a human bath?! lol). I am overflowing with gratitude for everything that has happened these last many years that have brought me to this place. Hard to believe that I am working. Yes, you read that right. I am working. “How could that be?” you say. Well, that’s why I am feeling so blessed. For years I spent my life striving and living on the endless wheel of other people’s needs and expectations. I was successful. I made good money. I owned my own home. Provided for my family. But work was my “finance committee.” Not my “life committee.” Work fed my life. It didn’t feed me. My experience is not unusual. When I suffered a head injury, I could have given up and never worked again. But that isn’t who I am. I didn’t want to walk away from life. Wasn’t ready to leave un-given all the gifts I’ve received throughout my life. I had medicine to give and wanted to give it. (You do, too. We all do.) So I started consciously listening to what my heart wanted. And paid careful attention to the answers. I practiced living in alignment with my own intuition. Consistently. About “big things” and “small things.’ The more I...

Are you scared of love? I am. I’m scared of being vulnerable, scared to ask for what I need (much less what I want), scared of being rejected or found unworthy. I suspect that most of us feel this way more often than we admit. I also suspect that most of us have learned to be scared and love anyway. Being scared and doing it anyway is the definition of courage. When we are sick or hurt or struggling, it can be especially hard to RECEIVE all the love that comes our way even though it’s what we need the most. So I wrote a song about standing in the center of the circle of love for a dear friend who had just been diagnosed with non-smoker’s lung cancer and was blown away by all the love and support coming her way. I wanted to remind her that she was doing a remarkable job receiving and to encourage her to keep going. Little did I know that it would do the same for me. Last Tuesday I was in another car accident. I’m ok, tho pretty battered and bruised, mostly from the airbag, which did its job really well – that’s the good news and the bad news. Being on the receiving end of an airbag when it deploys is like being on the wrong end of a battering ram. Way better than the alternative though, that’s for sure! So I’ve had lots of opportunities in the last week to stand in the center of my own love circle and exercise my own courage muscles. I’ve received incredible...

Welcome to Living in the GLOW!! As I write this inaugural post I am filled with gratitude for whatever it is that brought you here. You are why I write. Living in the Glow was born of a deep desire to support those who hear the whisper of their own dreams, who seek a deeper, more fulfilling experience of life. Those who sense that there is something more to learn, more to experience, more to be. Those who long to create a life that reflects their own heart’s desires. To be the human beings they came here to be. If this describes you – or if you are simply drawn to consider these ideas – then you’ve come to the right place! Carlos Santana says there are two kinds of people in the world: artists and con-artists! Since I’m not a con-artist and doubt you are either, I guess that means we are ALL artists – of one sort or another. Maybe your medium is gardening, maybe it’s ideas. Maybe you are helping to create a generation of compassionate beings or helping others heal the wounds that often come with living. Whatever is on your palette, your life is your canvas. How cool is that?!!! In painting there is a concept called the “glow”. The Glow is the place between layers on the canvas. When we leave part of a previous layer visible, that space– the Glow– adds depth and movement to the painting. While it may be only a small piece of the whole, it helps bring the painting alive. In life as in painting,...
